Longines Distaff Predictions Picks 2017 Breeders Cup

Here we go, the time is here. The 2017 Breeders Cup World Championships are so close we can taste it and wallets just might be itching to get in on the action. We believe in providing information to anyone who wants it and we do not believe in charging for it despite what many have told us. Why? Information is key and the more insights, opinions, numbers, or other tidbits a handicapper can get will only benefit them. Do we bet? Yes we do but we pick and choose when the logic dictates and that is what all of you should do. If you are not sure then do not bet. It does not matter if you are reading Longines Distaff Predictions or a maiden race on a Wednesday. If you believe then bet. If you are not sure then just watch and enjoy. Always remember that.

Race: Longines Distaff (G1)

Location: Del Mar

Distance: Mile and an Eighth

Surface: Dirt

Purse: $2,000,000

Date: Friday, November 3 2017

Age: 3+

Post Time: 7:35 PM EST

The Backstory – Over the years I have continued to modify how I break down each race based on input from the readers (Thank for your reading and leaving feedback over the years). That could be from any number of sites I have created content for including Sports Unbiased. However, when I started Longshot Horse Racing, I wanted to apply all I heard and get away from very granular and in-depth analysis of each horse in the field. Many claimed the reading was dry and over the top. Now you will find data about each horse, how it should shake out, and we will have a little fun doing it. If you want just the raw numbers then Brisnet, Equibase, or even the Daily Racing Form are right up your alley (and mine since I love them all) but if you want the breakdown with a twist then read on and enjoy.

Longines Distaff Predictions Contenders Analysis

red saddle cloth post 1Champagne Room – Worked well this summer at Del Mar. Did have a sharp return but this is beyond a step up, it is an absolute jump. I cannot even create a scenario where this one rounds out the exotics.

white saddle cloth post 2Stellar Wind – The one to beat when at best and frankly not even debatable to me. Connections took it easy with her this year and that resulted in three Grade 1 starts and three Grade 1 wins. If there is a chance to be off you can always argue that over three months rest, regardless of plan, can create a new variable.

blue saddle cloth post 3Mopotism – Let’s wrap this one up quickly. O’Neill convinced connections or connections convinced O”Neil that this one should run. I am not convinced in any way. Finishing outside of the basement will be an accomplishment.

yellow saddle cloth post 4Abel Tasman – Baffert always makes sure they are ready but not sure the works align with a plan to fire on Friday. A very talented horse that, at best, can score but not sure that is the case. Southern California Breeders Cup Distaff races do not yield many closers up front so that makes it a bit harder.

green saddle cloth post 5Elate – Bill Mott has steered five runners to winner circle in this race. She seems to be stepping up at the right time. She just beat older in the Beldame (nine Distaff winners from that race) and is entering on five weeks off which closely aligns with the 39 day average winner break.

black saddle cloth post 6Forever Unbridled – Seven wins on seven tracks means there is no surface she does not like. But she will have almost 10 weeks off before the start, is a closer (see earlier) and is a year older than the average. All negatives but it is not impossible.

orange saddle cloth post 7Paradise Woods – Things look good here. The trends align for her in the Distaff. Rest of not bad, front running style is favored in Southern California editions, and trainer Mandella guided Beholder to two Distaff scores.

violet saddle cloth post 8Romantic Vision – Finally scored a Grade 1 win at half a decade. But that win was on a sloppy track and Del Mar will not be sloppy on Saturday. Congrats on making the gate and good luck. You are going to need it.
